Veldeman

How a central meeting point strengthens the sense of connection at an international player in modular infrastructure 
 
At Veldeman, a specialist in modular and dismantlable infrastructure, there had long been a desire to strengthen cohesion amongst employees. The colleagues do their work spread out across several buildings at the Bree site and lacked a place where they could meet up spontaneously. The brief was clear: Design a central space that brings people together, inspires them, and fits in with Veldeman’s unique corporate culture. 
 
From an inquiry to an experience 
We started with a survey of the employees. What did they think? They wanted fresh and modern furnishings, natural materials, plenty of light, and good acoustics. But at least equally important to them was the feeling of warmth and familiarity, a family vibe that suits the way Veldeman works – informal, solution-oriented, and with a strong focus on well-being. 
 
With that input, we went to work with TINT-architectuur. The result is a space that feels like a campus, where employees from different buildings come together to have lunch, consult with one another, relax, or work flexibly. Just like a student campus, it is a place that lives, connects, and inspires. 
 
Thoughtful and sustainable design 
The central space has been designed with sustainability, functionality, and aesthetics in mind. The interior combines light colours, wood accents, and plenty of greenery, creating a fresh and calming feel. The train bench from Pami and the Meet & Eat table are recognisable anchor points in the interior, while a bespoke kitchen and a variety of different seating arrangements provide flexibility and comfort. 
 
Acoustic elements and the Matriks partition wall structure the space without taking away from its open character. The sitting area invites informal discussion or simply a moment of relaxation. The patio was also integrated into the overall concept, seamlessly blending the indoors with the outdoors. 
 
A place that lives and connects 
Today, this central meeting place is the beating heart of the Veldeman campus. Employees find each other there during breaks, brainstorm in small groups, or enjoy a quiet workspace with a view of the green outdoors. The space encourages collaboration, increases well-being, and perfectly reflects Veldeman’s culture and ambitions. 
 
In close cooperation with TINT-architectuur and based on the input of Team Veldeman, we created a place that not only looks good, but also really works. An inspiring environment where people enjoy coming together, something truly tangible.
